Eragon Week Review #1!

Yeah, I’m having an Eragon Week on my site. Around Christmas last year when the movie was on its way to theaters (which, at the time, I didn’t really want to see), I was informed that it was actually an adaptation of a book written by a fifteen-year-old. Then, one day, at Wal-Mart, I found the book. Being an 11-year-old, I was a bit intimidated by its long length. It was longer than any book I had ever read. Still, I thought carefully and decided to buy it, and I sure am glad I did! Later, I bought the DVD and the game. Both were good…although I was a bit disappointed by some of the changes, even though I wasn’t fazed by most of them. By suggestion from my dad, I’m having Eragon Week at my site, which is “one boy, one dragon, and one entire week dedicated to them.” First, I’ll review the book (which is the review you’re looking at now), then the movie, then the game.

Heh, and YOU said this wasn’t original!
Critics hated this book, but, why, we’ll never know. People became interested and it sold exceptionally well, and most of the people who bought it enjoyed it. I was one of those people. The book chronicles the adventures of young (wait for it…) Eragon, who finds a strange blue stone in the woods near his home while hunting. Later, the stone begins to squeak, and eventually, it hatches into a DRAGON!!!!! Later, Eragon figures out that the Ra’zac, the servants of King Galbatorix (the evil king who rules over the land, known as Alagaesia), are after him when King Galbatorix hears of a new Rider (the Dragon Riders fell one by one at the hands of King Galbatorix, who is indeed a Rider, another Rider named Morzan, and eleven other Riders. They called themselves the Thirteen Forsworn.). The Ra’zac soon destroy Eragon’s home and kill his uncle, after which Eragon unites with the storyteller Brom (who has figured out that Eragon is a Rider because he saw his gedwey ignasia, a mark given to a Rider after they first touch their dragon) and they go off on an adventure with the almost fully grown Saphira (Eragon’s dragon) to kill the Ra’zac and avenge Eragon’s uncle…but it eventually turns into more than just that! No more spoilers! Anyway, this isn’t as derivative of Star Wars as many claim. And it could easily be compared to The Lord of the Rings, of course, but that’s only because of its fantasy setting.

T-Man’s Pros and Cons:
Pros:
+ 100% of this book
Cons:
- Uhh, I don’t know
Buy It/Check Out/Skip It/Shred It:
Buy it! That’s all I have to say… Se onr sverdar sitja hvass! (That means “May your swords stay sharp!” in the Ancient Language in this book)
Rating: Pure Greatness
This book has received the T-MAN’S GAMES T-MAN’S CHOICE AWARD
What is the T-MAN’S GAMES T-MAN’S CHOICE AWARD? I’m going to start giving anything that receives an “Awesome” or “Pure Greatness” rating a T-MAN’S GAMES T-MAN’S CHOICE AWARD. IGN and GameSpy have Editor’s Choice Awards for games that receive good scores. Why shouldn’t I have something like that???
