Yes, so remember Sonic Glitchfest? Kind of recent post. Just some Sonic glitches I had found in Sonic Adventure and Sonic Next-Gen. Some were minor, some were major, but now...
There's a sequel.
So, I've gone back through the games, and found about 30 more glitches. And, you guessed it, I thought I'd do the world a favor by posting them. I'm also putting every glitch in Sonic Glitchfest in, and repackaging the whole thing as Sonic [Glitch] Adventure, for convienience and for the heck of it. The old glitch descriptions (or at least some) will be edited for new distribution. There will also be some glitches I didn't discover (mainly getting people into areas they're not supposed to go) so that I can make some related glitches more clear.
So get ready...
Sonic Adventure
When trying to find a glitch in Sonic Adventure, you more or less stumble upon it. It's only when it involves getting a character in a place that they're not supposed to go when you actively seek it out. Otherwise, you just find it by pure chance. For me, quite a few have been found just by playing other people's glitches (although not most of them). Anyway...
Sonic the Hedgehog: Spindash…Dash?
Where Done: Emerald Coast
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Medium
At the whale chase boardwalk, right as you hit the dash pad, press and hold B. Sonic will move as he charges up a spindash! It looks cool, but slows you down and can cause you to die. It can probably be done anywhere else with boost pads, but this is the coolest place anyway.
Sonic the Hedgehog: In the Loop Rock
Where Done: Emerald Coast
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: None
Not really a glitch, and it is in fact kind of pointless. Anyway, to get in the loop rock before the island with the goal, tap B and spindash onto the dash pads leading there. When you go inside the rock, tap B and you will land inside it. Enjoy yourself or whatever...
Sonic the Hedgehog: In Casinopolis Early
Where Done: Station Square
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Major
Using this glitch, you can get into Casinopolis right after Emerald Coast, and get it out of the way. To do it, go to the train station, and jump on top of the middle car. Move over to the middle area of the right car, and jump and hold A. You should be on the glass dome above the train station. Then, jump over to the tunnel, and run across to the end of it (you can center the camera on Sonic using the D-Pad). Then, spin-jump into the back of the casino building, and you should hit the back of the button and open the casino. After completing it, you'll be trapped, but it's nothing that spin-jumping into the left-corner of the door to the train station can't fix. After doing this, the post-Casinopolis cutscene will automatically play when you come back after getting the Light Speed Shoes. (NOTE: You can also get into Casinopolis early as Tails, but you'll get stuck after completing it)
Sonic the Hedgehog: Messing With the Gamma Defeat Cutscene
Where Done: Egg Carrier (Post Gamma Battle)
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Minor
If you defeat Gamma when he’s facing to the left or right, everything in the cutscene will be shown at an angle. The camera shows everything at an angle, and Sonic looks either to the left or right, depending on the angle (I think that I’ve only been able to angle it to the left).
Sonic the Hedgehog: Monorail Cutscene Activation
Where Done: Egg Carrier (after changing the Egg Carrier’s mode)
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Minor
Before heading to the large, green area where you fight Chaos 6, enter the Egg Carrier’s interior and use a monorail. After getting off, the pre-Chaos 6 battle cutscene will play.
Sonic the Hedgehog: Deadly Entrance
Where Done: Eggman's Base (Mystic Ruins)
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Medium
OK, there's a certain way in which you can enter Final Egg to where you will die as you enter. To do it, walk around on top of Final Egg until the area in which a barrier pushes you back. If you go a certain degree to the right or left, you will enter the area as you fall and thus die in Final Egg instead of the Mystic Ruins. It's pointless, but cool yet.
Miles "Tails" Prower: In Emerald Coast
Where Done: Station Square
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Major
NOTE: I didn't discover this glitch.
Obviously, this glitch is just plain awesome. Anyway, it's pretty easy. When the hotel doors near the pool open for you, go to the right one and start running into the middle of it. When you see Tails's shoe poke through the glass, immediately jump and fly. You should go through the ceiling. From there, fly behind the gate (it should be easy) and get into Emerald Coast (NOTE: Be sure to land on the solid sand or the screen will mess up).
Related Glitches:
Ahh, the reason the "Tails in Emerald Coast" glitch is in this post. Now, these were originally in my original Sonic Glitchfest as standalone glitches, but since I figured that they wouldn't be what you went to Emerald Coast for, I thought I'd post the whole deal. So, anyway...
Dead, Yet Still Alive:
Perform the "Rhythm Float" glitch (refer to a later part of the guide) at the first loop and go down under the water. You'll hear Tails scream, but you can get Tails out of the water, only for him to die anyway...
Through the Lighthouse Glass:
In the post-whale area, there should be a lighthouse. Now, SEGA wasn't really careful when making this game. If you fly and go to the top of it, you'll fall straight through. You can even see Tails through the glass, hence the name of the glitch
Back Entrance to Windy and Ripley:
In the same area as the last glitch, you can fly around the back of the mountain (which is actually paper-thin) to find a rock jutting out. Go inside it, and you'll be in Windy and Ripley. Of course, the level ends there, as usual, but it's still a cool glitch. You can also do it as Knuckles.
Miles "Tails" Prower: In the Station Square Background
Where Done: Station Square (duh)
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Medium
Not that major of a glitch, but still pretty cool. Anyway, get Tails through the hotel's ceiling as you would to get him into Emerald Coast, but take a detour by flying backwards, and you can be in the paper-think backgrounds surrounding the hotel.
Miles "Tails" Prower: In the Train Tunnel and Tornado 2 Launch Pad
Where Done: Mystic Ruins
What You Need: Jet Anklet
Rank: Major
First, get the Jet Anklet if you don’t already have it, then go to the highest point on Tails’s workshop. Then, fly over to the mountain beside the one with the cave leading to the Chao Garden, and fly into the place where the two mountain’s connect and you can get in both the train tunnel and Tornado 2 launch pad! Unfortunately, neither are solid, so you’ll die.
Miles "Tails" Prower: Inside the Temple
Where Done: Ancient City
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Medium
When you go to the Ancient City as Tails after completing Sand Hill, this is a good glitch to try out. Anyway, pass up Tikal and get under the snake head. Jump and fly without pressing any direction on the Control Stick, and let go of A at JUST the right time, and Tails will fall through the door. Move a little backwards with the control stick so that you’ll land on some grass inside the temple. The temple is empty except for some ground here and there.
Miles "Tails" Prower: In Goin' Down and At Dawn
Where Done: Speed Highway (duh)
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Major
NOTE: I did not discover this glitch.
This is easy to do and very fun, in fact. Anyway, when you get past the helipad, jump and fly to a nearby area of road with some dash pads. From there, fly to the building with the sign and land in the white area to be in Goin' Down. Restart so that Eggman doesn't bother you. To get through Goin' Down faster, press A to fly and hold B to fall. Once you get through there, go into At Dawn.
Related Glitches:
Rhythm Float:
Here it is. The best glitch I've ever discovered. The notorius Rhythm Float. Actually, this can be done anywhere with dash pads, but it's the most fun to do in At Dawn. Anyway, you need the Rhythm Badge, obviously. Just hold B when you hit a dash pad and you'll float, but unless you go left or right when you do it, you'll eventually slow down. So why is it the most fun to do in At Dawn? If you hit the dash pad on the building while using the Rhythm Badge, you can go as far out of bounds as you dang want! If you go far out enough, no matter how far down you fall, you won't die.
Miles "Tails" Prower: Control the Egg Walker
Where Done: Egg Walker Boss Fight (duh)
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Major
Easily one of the strangest glitches in the game. For some reason, every time you press the 'Y' button during the Egg Walker boss fight, it will walk toward Tails--even when it's showing his name or after he stomps (since he normally wouldn't walk while his foot is glowing). If you made him walk while his foot was glowing and hit him, he'll have a seizure until you hit him, and then he'll jump away. Doing this, you can get him on the sidewalks or facing you in an angled direction. Unfortunately, you can get stuck if you press it after you hit him and before he jumps. Then, he'll just stand still with his feet electrified, but he'll walk toward you if you press 'Y.' You can also get stuck if he has a seizure while most of his body is on the side walk, since you can't go on the side walk, and he just stays there the whole time.
Sonic and Tails: In An Area of Station Square Early
Where Done: Station Square
What You Need: Nothing for either
Rank: Major
This glitch is done slightly different as both characters. As Sonic, go to one of the overhead canopies next to the entrance of the second part, which is currently guarded by police cars. Then, have Sonic face you, and then jump to get inside the building. From there, go behind the police cars. As Tails, do the same thing, but you can jump and fly to make it easier. There are no people or cars there (aside from the one covering the manhole, which sadly is there as Sonic also, thus preventing you from getting the Light Shoes early, and there’s also some creepy girl that talks about the Burger Statue). To get out as Sonic (since the barrier would normally prevent you from doing so), get on one of the nearby canopies, and spindash up the building. Then, at just the right time, jump, and you should go high enough to get over the barrier. Sadly, I don’t know how to do it as Tails
.
Knuckles the Echidna: No Ending Pose
Where Done: Speed Highway
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Minor
This is the only place where I’ve managed to do it, but if the last Emerald Piece doesn’t have to be dug up or you don’t have to defeat an enemy for it, it might be possible other places. Anyway, before you get the last Emerald Piece, punch at it. If you grab it while punching, Knuckles will just sit there as the results are brought up and will not do his ending pose.
Knuckles the Echidna: Mysterious Angel Island
Where Done: Angel Island (dur)
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Major
On the part of Angel Island with Red Mountain, you can climb down the cliff. Notice that you go through the lower parts of the bridge, while the upper parts block you. Also, if you go as far down as you can go, you will see lines indicating a barrier for how far down you can climb. There's another line on the far left of the mountain. If you turn the camera correctly, you can see the background through it! Also, if you manage to go through the cliff by falling past the point of climbing and gliding through the mountain (at least I think that's how I did it), you'll notice that the tree texture and sky texture (for the background) split (as a point of interest, the sky texture has a big gaping hole in it). You know what this means? It means that the sky texture for Angel Island actually stretches around the area until it meets with the tree texture, and then cuts off. Also, if you go all the way to the left of the island, and go as far down as you go, Knuckles will have a seizure as he floats off the mountain and dies. This also sometimes happens on the far right.
There are also some oddities with the island that has the Master Emerald alter. You can climb all the way around it, and you can go through the lower parts of the bridge there, too. If you climb all the way down, Knuckles will have a seizure and die. Also, if you go to the balcony, the draw distance on the part with Red Mountain will go out of whack, and it will frequently fluctuate between showing the sky or the mountains (further backing my theory that the sky texture stretches around the area), and some trees will start to disappear, too.
Knuckles the Echidna: In Sonic's Lost World
Where Done: Lost World (where else?)
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Major
NOTE: I didn't discover this glitch.
Go into the long tube with the bomb in it, and get on that ledge. Climb into the right corner, and repeatedly jump and glide. Eventually, you'll go out of bounds. From there, you can glide either into Sonic's Chased By a Rock section or into Sonic's final section. (Glide into the corners of doors to get through them)
Related Glitches:
Knuckles Vibrates:
Get to a checkpoint and then die. Then, go to the Chased By a Rock section. As you run downhill, Knuckles will go at a speed that he is not normally supposed to go, and thus his outline will vibrate. This can also be done during the whale chase at Emerald Coast.
Skip a Scene:
If you complete the stage by hitting the capsule at the end of Sonic's Lost World in Adventure Mode, you'll end up in the past with no explanation, as the scene in which Tikal takes Knuckles to the past is skipped (this is probably because the scene takes place in Knuckles's normal area).
Knuckles the Echidna: Skip Another Scene
Where Done: Mystic Ruins
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Major
When you get to the Final Egg building, normally a scene involving Knuckles and Gamma will play. BUT if you fly behind Final Egg, then fly back, Knuckles will fall as the scene plays. This will cause Knuckles to die during the scene, and thus it will cut off, and Knuckles will restart at the gate at the beginning of the forest. Then, the scene involving the Egg Carrier rising will play, and you will be on the Egg Carrier.
Knuckles the Echidna: In Emerald Coast
Where Done: Station Square
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Major
NOTE: I did not discover this.
Go in between the doors to the pool area and jump up and down. If you are in the right place, Knuckles should go through the ceiling when you jump (this can get pretty hard). Eventually, the doors will close, and Knuckles will land on them. Now, be careful, because, when you're on top of the doors, the game will sometimes glitch out when you jump and think you're inside the doors. Anyway, fly around the back onto the beach to go to Emerald Coast!
Related Glitches:
Ugh, My Head's Spinning:
You may or may not know this but, Tails and Knuckles can do a sort of roll if you tap B while they're running. Do this while going through the first loop, and when you land, the game won't be sure whether you'll rolling or walking...
Amy Rose: Get Rid of Zero
Where Performed: Anywhere (Twinkle Park is the easiest)
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Minor
If you outrun Zero (and I mean really outrun him, which is actually easy), he will disappear…
Amy Rose: The Warrior Sinks
Where Done: Hot Shelter, first section
What You Need: Warrior Feather
Rank: Minor
In the room with the Emergency Drainage Switch, get on the platform that rises after pressing the actual switch, and hold B to use the Warrior Feather. If you try to use it, then Amy will fall through the platform and into the water.
Amy Rose: Zero’s Late Appearance
Where Performed: Hot Shelter (second section, first block puzzle)
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Medium
As the last block you need to put in the slot slides in, leave the room. The TV glass should break, but when you come back in, Zero won’t be there. Also, if you approach the entrance to the TV room, you’ll hear the glass break again. If you have a Jump Pack, you will feel a rumble every time you approach the room.
Amy Rose: Get Rid of Zero…The Revenge
Where Performed: Hot Shelter (second section, second block puzzle)
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Medium
When Zero appears at the second block puzzle, knock Zero off the area you’re on, and he will fly into the sky, and only reappear if you return to the area he normally appears, which is unwarranted, so enjoy the puzzle without Zero ruining it for you!
Amy Rose: Skip Yet Another Scene
Where Performed: Mystic Ruins forest (near Final Egg, during the story)
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Medium
During Amy’s story, there is a scene near Final Egg, like in Knuckles’s story, and just like in Knuckles’s story, it can be skipped. Just hammer jump off the cliff when you get near the Final Egg building, and Amy will die as the scene plays, allowing you to skip it. Actually, I can’t remember whether you see the scene again when you get near Final Egg again or get to skip it; my memory may be fooling me.
Amy Rose: Zero Can’t Ride the Elevator
Where Performed: Final Egg, elevator room
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Medium
When the elevator comes up, knock Zero into it, and then get in it yourself so that it will start moving up. It will leave Zero behind, and he’ll just float there, attacking the air, until you go all the way up. It’s kind of funny, actually.
Big the Cat: Cast Underwater
Where Performed: Emerald Coast
What You Need: Life Belt
Rank: Major
Now, when you go into the underwater cave, notice that everything there is not completely underwater. Go to the ends of the cave (one leading to the fishing hole and the other leading to the beach), and just as you exit the cave, hold B. If you do it at the beach side, the cursor will be underwater. If you cast during Big’s momentary hop when he floats back up to the top, you can sometimes cast directly below Big. Also, on the other end of the cave, I actually managed to truly cast underwater, but I didn’t manage to catch anything though. Several times, I’ve actually cast out of bounds.
Big the Cat: The Involuntary Dive
Where Performed: Hot Shelter (room with kiki on floating platform)
What You Need: Life Belt
Rank: Minor
If you are on the platform with the kiki, and get knocked off by a bomb, Big will sink to the bottom of the water, and float back up when he hits the bottom.
Big the Cat: Jump Underwater
Where Performed: Hot Shelter
What You Need: Life Belt
Rank: Minor
After pulling the plug and raising the water level in the Emergency Drainage Switch Room (the plug is in a hidden room, and if you move the line over it, you can pull it, and drain the water in that room to raise the water level in the Emergency Drainage Switch room), if you float above the area in the middle, you can jump while in the water. Also, while on the underwater ladder in the room preceding that room, you can jump very high if you jump off the ladder.
Big the Cat: Cast Underwater…For Real
Where Performed: Hot Shelter
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Major
There are certain places in Hot Shelter in which you will sink to the bottom of the water, but the game won’t think you’re in water. Then, if you cast ahead of you, you can always cast underwater. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to catch a fish this way.
Big the Cat: Almost in Knuckles’s Sky Deck Room
Where Performed: Egg Carrier pool room
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Major
Go to the edge of the pool and fall down onto the door. Big’s body should be partially inside the wall. If you are already in the right position or can turn around VERY slowly, then you can almost walk into the Sky Deck room, even getting the camera to go inside it, before the game pushes you out.
Those are all of the Sonic Adventure glitches worth noting that I've found. (There are some in the original that I thought were too minuscule to put in) Now for Sonic Next-Gen glitches.
Sonic the Hedgehog
In Sonic the Hedgehog, you don't have to be a professional glitchfinder to find cool glitches, considering the tools the developers have given us (i.e. Sky Gem, Purple Gem, etc.). Using these two things you can go just about anywhere as Sonic, whether you're meant to or not. Otherwise, it requires a basic knowledge of things that the lack of development time has given us (the Shadow "go-through-walls" glitch and Omega's extended flight time when you repeatedly press A, for instance). So, without further ado...
Sonic the Hedgehog: No New City-Forest Entrance
Where Done: New City/Soleanna Forest
What You Need: Sky Gem
Rank: Medium
You can use the Sky Gem to get behind the closed doors in the New City and Soleanna Forest. If you do so, notice that when you get close to the door from the inside, the camera will switch to a different position as if you were about to enter an area, but if you move backward, you will encounter a barrier and won’t be able to enter the area.
Sonic the Hedgehog: Think Outside the Boundaries
Where Done: New City
What You Need: Sky Gem, Purple Gem
Rank: Major
Outside of New City’s boundaries, there is an entire world to explore! It’s easy; just use the Sky Gem to get out of the boundaries. You’ll find some solid concrete, as well as some un-solid concrete, which you will fall through and die. You can use the Purple Gem to explore the area. Notice that there is a sea that extends into an abyss. If you use the Purple Gem to go out as far as possible, you’ll mysteriously die…
Sonic the Hedgehog: Drowning Causes the Game to Freeze
Where Done: Silver Boss Fight
What You Need: Sky Gem
Rank: Major
If you escape the boundaries during the Silver boss fight by using the Sky Gem (I didn’t discover that glitch), and fall in the water, after you die, the game will freeze…
Sonic the Hedgehog: Iblis Phase 2 Boss Fight Tip
Where Done: Iblis Phase 2 (where else?)
What You Need: Purple Gem
Rank: None.
Not really a glitch, but here’s a tip to defeat Iblis Phase 2 more quickly. Aren’t you tired of waiting for him to make new footholds drop down? Well, it wasn’t obvious to me at first, but when I tried to S-Rank it, it hit me: the Purple Gem! You can use that to jump all the way to the areas where Iblis tries to attack you. This really quickens the boss fight.
Sonic the Hedgehog: Backwards Down the Loop
Where Done: Wave Ocean
What You Need: Sky Gem
Rank: Medium
After you boost off the loop at the beginning, get back on with the Sky Gem, and go up the loop, but not to the start of the level (with the houses). Use the Sky Gem and aim right below you. You will be walking upside down on the bottom of the loop! Unfortunately, you’ll die when you boost into the water. Curse Sonic’s inability to swim!
Sonic the Hedgehog: So I Didn't Need the Antigravity After All?
Where Done: Soleanna Castle Town
What You Need: Antigravity
Rank: Minor
Without the Antigravity, you can’t squeeze under the wall in Soleanna Castle Town, right? Well, once you get the Antigravity, you can just run through the wall there, without having to slide under it. That’s just cheap!
Sonic the Hedgehog: Paying You a Visit
Where Done: Soleanna Castle Town
What You Need: Sky Gem
Rank: Medium
There are several buildings in Soleanna Castle Town, so why not pay somebody a visit? Go to the door of a building (as it is coincidentally the thinnest part of the wall) and use the Sky Gem to bust through the door! You can’t do it with all doors in the Castle Town, I don’t think. When you get inside the building, there will be nothing there; only an abyss below you.
Sonic the Hedgehog: In Silver's Flame Core
Where Done: Flame Core (where else?)
What You Need: Sky Gem
Rank: Major
In the first dark room, there is a door that doesn’t normally open (you’ll know which one it is because it has a box in front of it instead of a switch), and use the Sky Gem to get through it. The next room, which has nothing but lava in it, darkens as well. Use the Purple Gem to get through this room (if you didn’t know, you go gradually higher with each jump), and you’ll eventually reach a room that has two blue torches in it. Use the Purple Gem to get across, and you’ll reach the room that has the giant ball of flame in Silver’s story! It’s not there, and the lava has been replaced by a black abyss. From here, you can use the Purple Gem to get to the area where Silver’s goal ring is!
Sonic the Hedgehog: Unconventional Way to Get into the Volcano
Where Done: Flame Core
What You Need: Purple Gem
Rank: Minor
You can use the Purple Gem to get past the ramp that takes you into the volcano. After a certain point, you'll be in the next area.
Sonic the Hedgehog: In Silver and Shadow's Kingdom Valley
Where Done: Kingdom Valley (dur, duh, dah-ee, and all those)
What You Need: Sky Gem, Purple Gem
Rank: Major
Getting into Silver's Kingdom Valley is very easy to do. The obvious solution would be to pass up Silver and use the Sky Gem to get above the caged area, but there's another way that doesn't require gems that I don't feel like explaining right now.
Yeah, so you already knew that, right? But did you know you can also get Sonic in Shadow's Kingdom Valley? Thaaat's right! Just go to the door where Rouge would usually be, and use the Sky Gem to get through it. From there, you can use the Purple Gem to explore.
Miles "Tails" Prower: In Sonic/Blaze's Loop
Where Done: Wave Ocean
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Medium
Though there’s not much to this glitch, there is one interesting thing that you will encounter. When you start Wave Ocean as Tails, turn around and fly over the barrier onto a rock. Now, fly from rock to rock in the ocean to get to the loop where Sonic starts. But as you cross the rocks, a voice clip will play, and it goes like this: “Hyaaa!" There’s a caption box for it and everything. Apparently, Tails was originally planned to start at the loop like Sonic and Blaze, and that voice clip was probably going to be used when he hit a dash pad at the end of the loop (to back this up, there's a boost pad on top of the mountain), but why did they decide for Tails to start on the beach? I believe it's because he goes down so slowly.
Miles “Tails” Prower: In Sonic’s Aquatic Base
Where Done: Aquatic Base, first section
What You Need: Sky Gem
Rank: Major
OK, before doing this glitch, I recommend you save the first checkpoint in the area for Tails; it makes it more fun. Anyway, when you get to the checkpoint in the ball area, kill yourself. After restarting at the checkpoint again, use the Sky Gem to backtrack through every room and kill all the enemies to open the doors (you can also try to get through the doors after control switches to Tails, but it’s a lot harder). Then, go back into the ball area, and get to Tails. After control switches, you’ll have to fly back by flying from pillar to pillar (in case you didn’t notice, there are several pillars in the room). It’s hard, but rewarding. Afterwards, backtrack to the first checkpoint, hit it, die, restart, and replay the rest of the section as Tails! Also note the weird thing he does when you use the pullies…
Miles "Tails" Prower: In Shadow's Wave Ocean
Where Done: Wave Ocean (duh)
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Medium
This can only be done in Sonic’s Wave Ocean, because the cave leading to Shadow’s Wave Ocean is closed in Tails’s. Anyway, this is kind of hard because you have to fly all the way across the gap. Just be sparing with how long you hold the A Button, and you should make it okay.
Knuckles the Echidna: In an earlier part of Sonic’s Flame Core, Plus a Bonus
Where Done: Flame Core (duh), second section
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Medium
After control switches to Knuckles, turn around and climb on the wall (there is an invisible barrier around Sonic’s previous area, and you need to bypass it) until you get to a place in which, if you try enough, you can jump through the ceiling. Once out of bounds, glide slightly to the right, and you’ll be in Sonic’s previous section of Flame Core! Unfortunately, the next door isn’t open, so you can’t backtrack any further. But there’s still quite a bit to do here as Knuckles…
First of all, notice that when you grind on a rail and press the X button, it doesn’t skip the animation as it does with Silver. This means is that Knuckles was originally to have a normal section in which he was to grind on rails. Also, if you leave the checkpoint as Sonic, and come back as Knuckles, you can hit the checkpoint, die, and start back as Knuckles! Knuckles, sadly, can’t go through the rainbow ring, but if you go into the room where he would usually be, he won’t be there. You can also see Knuckles’s ending pose this way if you are unable to the normal way.
Shadow the Hedgehog: Aquatic Base GTW (Go Through Walls) Glitches
Where Done: Aquatic Base (where else?)
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Minor to Major
While I didn’t discover the GTW glitch, I did discover some related glitches. To use it, press A, and then, directly after, press start. If done correctly, this should initiate an automatic Homing Attack that can allow you to squeeze through a door.
One of the glitches I found is that, if you use it on the very first door you come to, it will mess up the next door; you can walk straight through it on the sides. Also, if you come across any doors that don’t normally open, you can go through them to end up in parts of Sonic’s Aquatic Base. Unfortunately, they’re completely empty.
Also, I’ve discovered that this can be used to skip Omega and Rouge’s sections in Very Hard Mode. If you go through one of the doors on the higher levels, you’ll find a switch. When you press it, the door behind you will open. Go back into the last room, and there’s another switch. Press it, and you’ll be all set to go to the second section of Aquatic Base. You can probably skip Silver that way, too, but who cares when you can skip the entirety of that section by going through one of the lower level doors on Normal and Hard?
Rouge the Bat: In Omega’s Section of Flame Core, Plus a Bonus
Where Done: Flame Core (Very Hard Mode)
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Major
After control switches to Rouge, and you get through the first room, go to the end of the first room with the laser walls. Now, climb up the wall and along the ceiling until you find an area where you think you can jump through the wall if you repeatedly press A. Now, you have two paths which you can take.
The first path is the easiest. If you intend on getting through all of Omega’s section as Rouge, I recommend you take it, since there’s a checkpoint there, in front of Omega (if you just did this to get past the light puzzle quickly, I recommend you touch Omega), which you will surely need. The other path is harder, considering you have to grind across a hazardous rail and can’t jump off it due to the lasers still blocking you. But while I’m at it, I’ll talk about your bonus. Remember how Knuckles has a grind-boost animation even though he doesn’t grind anywhere in the main game? Same case with Rouge. Though she has her own stage, she does not grind anywhere else (at least, that I know of).
Rouge the Bat: In Omega’s Section of Aquatic Base
Where Done: Aquatic Base (Very Hard Mode)
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Major
Just like last time, getting Rouge through Omega’s section will be extremely hard, so, if you intend on doing this, be sure you’re REALLY good with Rouge.
Actually, the problem isn’t so much getting in as it is getting THROUGH. If you want to truly do this, leave the checkpoint at the start of Omega’s section for Rouge. But if that IS what you want to do, it’s going to be extremely hard. Anyway, once you start with Omega, play as normal until the you clear the second laser wall in his first room. Then, jump on top of the highest box (preferably the explosive one if it survived the battle), and hover into the next room. Repeatedly press A so that Omega can hover almost indefinitely. Head across the room, to the door (be sure to pass by the door), and when you get to the area with the door, start heading toward the left, across a laser wall, and be sure to LAND on the switch. This should cause the door behind Rouge to open once control switches to her, so turn around and head through that door to be in Omega’s Aquatic Base (NOTE: Omega should still be standing on the switch; if you touch him, the game will freeze). Glide across the first bottomless pit you come to, and get on the moving platform. From there, get into Omega’s previous section. Glide across to the other side, hit your checkpoint, die, and then you’ll restart there as Rouge. But you’ll be in for a rough ride…
Once, when I touched the moving platform, it made me bounce up really high. From there, I glided into the balcony-like thing leading into the main Aquatic Base room, and Rouge did the pose that she does whenever control switches to her, and the game froze…
E-123 Omega: Drowning in Sand
Where Done: Wave Ocean, Omega’s section
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Minor
OK, if you try to get into the water from the shore by just walking into it, a barrier will stop you. But, by jumping as high as you can and then pressing A repeatedly, you can make your way over the barrier. If you try to land on the sand past a certain point, he’ll fall through it and die. Hey, robots can’t drown! Of course, the water could just mess him up, Omega being electric and all…
E-123 Omega: But He Doesn’t Drown in Desert Sand…For a While
Where Done: Dusty Desert, Team Attack Amigo
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Major
Falling in the sand and then trying to get out by getting on some of the ruins is usually hopeless, but continuously pressing A allows Omega to survive in the desert sands (notice the abyss below you) for a little while.
E-123 Omega: In Shadow’s Wave Ocean
Where Done: Wave Ocean, Omega’s section
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Major
Of course, many know how to get Omega to Shadow’s goal ring, but do they know that they can explore Shadow’s Wave Ocean past that point? Thaaaaaat’s right!! Just get to the top of the mountain, and repeatedly press A to hover almost indefinitely, and then explore to your heart’s content!
E-123 Omega: Out of Wave Ocean’s Boundaries
Where Done: Wave Ocean, Omega’s section
What You Need: Nothing
Rank: Major
At the start of Omega’s Wave Ocean, get on top of a rock, and repeatedly press A to infinitely hover. Then, fly around the right side of the island, and you’ll be out of Wave Ocean’s boundaries! Any islands you find will note be solid. Also, even when repeatedly pressing A, you will gradually descend into the water. If you continue pressing A at that point, you will probably “swim” for a little while before eventually dying. NOTE: Sonic can probably do this as well if you use the Purple Gem.
Well, that's all. DANG, that's a lot of glitches! Well, hope y'all enjoyed that. I have nothing more to say... I've gone back through the games, and found about 30 more glitches.
